EASTON, PA - The Iona College golf team continued its spring slate Sunday with the first round of the 2014 Lafayette Invitational, held at Silver Creek Country Club.  After one round of play, the Maroon & Gold sits 16th out of 18 squads with a team score of 318. Longwood University leads the way with a team score of 300.

Junior Taylor Bellemare shot a four-over 75 in round one, and sits tied for 10th, three shots behind the lead. Junior Tom McHugh shot an eight-over 79 on the first day, and sits tied for 44th.

Freshmen Stefan Cygan and Brian Fitzpatrick are two of six players tied for 74th after round one, as each carded round of 82 (+11). Junior Evan DeLuca is tied for 89th after shooting a 14 over 85 in the opening holes.

The Gaels wrap up action at the Invitational Monday morning beginning at 9:00 am.
