OLD WESTBURY, NY – The Iona College golf program took part in the Glen Oaks Shootout at the Glen Oaks Club in Westbury, NY on Monday, Oct. 19. The Gaels placed third among the six competing teams in their final tournament of the fall, which was hosted by Manhattan College.
The individual event was a 27-hole setup, with every golfer playing all three nine-hole courses at the venue, playing as a par 108. Iona shot 463 as a team, with sophomore Kevin Kramarski leading the Iona attack with a tied for fourth score of 113, shooting 74 for the first two rounds, and a 39 on the final nine.
The winner of the event was St. Thomas Aquinas, who shot 22 strokes better than the Maroon & Gold; Hofstra finished second, just two strokes ahead of the Maroon & Gold.
The Glen Oaks Shootout was the final even of the fall for the Gaels. Their season will continue in the spring.
