NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Follwing a sweep of MAAC rival Monmouth on Friday, the Iona College Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving program returned home to the Hynes Athletics Center Pool to take on Big East member Providence College.
The men's team continued their winning ways defeating the Friars 160-88, to bring their 2016-17 dual mark to 5-0-1. The Iona women fell to the visitors 164-116 to bring their season mark to 3-5.

Nick Cavataro commented, "Both our men and women are racing and training very hard right now. Both teams are confident about the meets ahead and the end goal of the February MAAC Championship. We still have a lot of season ahead!"
Anderson continued to impress with a season best 1000-Free at 9:43.90. From that point on, the Iona men went on to win five of the next seven events with Sophomore Jimmy Barnola taking the 200-Free at 1:45.52; Boisson-Yates winning the 100-Back at 54.41; Purrman claiming the 200-Butterfly at 1:58.82; Holbrook battling for the 50-Free at 22.04 and 100-Free at 48.34; and Vadala earning the 200-Breast at 2:12.33.
Anderson returned to win the 500-Free at 4:44.81 with Boisson-Yates picking up his second win in the 100-Fly at 53.80. Anderson picked up his third win of the day touching first in the 200-Individual medley at 4:12.96.
The Gaels next take to the pool for Loyola Hounds Invitational with MAAC rivals St. Peter's, Marist and the host Loyola.
