SPAIN – Three-time All-MAAC First Team honoree and 2016 MAAC Champion Joy Adams will be continuing her professional career overseas in Spain.
Adams will be joining the club Al-Qazeres. Last year the team went 11-15, winning seven games at home and four contests on the road. She is joining fellow Americans Shayla Copper (Ohio State '17), Pamela Rosanio (UMass '08), and Julie Forster (Albany '13).
Iona and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's all-time leading rebounder played for the Oviedo club during the 2016-17 season. Adams had nothing but praise for the team and the opportunity they gave her: "at first it wasn't what I expected but eventually I got used to it. I am grateful that Oviedo gave me the opportunity to continue my basketball career."Â
While Adams got to play with former teammate Damika Martinez with Oviedo last season, this year she will take the court against a fellow former Gael,
Marina Lizarazu.
On the upcoming season, Adams comments that she is "truly grateful and excited for this new opportunity. Can't wait to show case what I've been working on this summer. I have the opportunity to play with and against some amazing players."Â She adds on, "I also have to play against Marina, I'm looking forward that game"
