BLAIRCLIFF MANOR, NY – One the final day of the 17
th annual Iona-UCD Challenger's Cup, the University of College Dublin regained possession of the Challenger's Cup at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club on Thursday afternoon with a 6.5-5.5 final tally.
Iona and UCD each tallied four points on the afternoon. Sophomores
Justin Burkhamer,
Kritsarin Oukosavanna, rookie
Colin Sutyla and senior
Paolo Matti each won points for the Maroon & Gold.
The Maroon & Gold highlight was Oukosavanna's hole-in-one on the par three 16
th hole. He hit shot that landed roughly six feet behind the pin and had it roll back into the cup. That allowed him to win the hole, and eventually win the match.
The Iona-UCD Challenge will resume next summer in Ireland. It is expected to take place in the middle of August.
The Gaels return to action on Monday, Oct. 8 at the two-day Bucknell Fall Invitational in Lewisburg, PA. The Bison host a gathering of schools at the host course, the Bucknell University Golf Course.
