STONY BROOK, NY – The Iona College women's outdoor track & field program raced at the Stony Brook Wolfie Invite on Friday night. Numerous Gaels raced in a series of short to mid-distance events in another preparation event for the upcoming 2021 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
Tonian Fullerton raced in the 100-meter and clocked in at 14:58 seconds. In the 200-meter,
Egle Morenaite and
Holly Smith finished in 32.94 and 33.21 seconds, respectively.
Four Gaels took part in the women's 400-meter dash.
Bria Oatman was the Maroon & Gold's fastest finisher in 1:01.23.
Sophie Murphy was the second Iona runner to finish in 1:04.14.
Jamie Gudyka clocked in a 1:06.35 and
Kaitlyn Ohrtman wrapped up in 1:08.37.
Iona went two-three in the 800-meter event.
Gabrielle Toth grabbed silver in 2:13.21 and Sparrow garnered bronze in 2:17.39. Also running in the 800-meter was
Olivia Lazarou who raced in a 2:23.84.
The 1,500-meter race saw a pair of Maroon & Gold streaks cross the finish line.
Madison Klein finished in eighth place in 4:59.36.
Hannah Molloy crossed the finish line in 5:04.55.
Cosmina Spiridon raced in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and finished in second at 11:42.88.
In the field events, Fullerton competed in the long jump and leapt 4.12 meters.
Iona's final non-postseason event is the Virginia Grand Prix on Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1.
