RIVERDALE, NY – The Iona University women's cross country team had four freshmen toe the line at the 30th Annual Br. John "Paddy" Doyle / Iona University Meet of Champions, held at Van Cortlandt Park. Competing in the Joe Dula Women's Championship 5k, the Gaels did not record a team score but continued to build early-season experience in a field highlighted by nationally and regionally ranked programs.
IONA PERFORMERS
Freshman
Arabella Dickfos led the Gaels with a 36th-place finish in 19:25.2. Classmate
Alyssa Dovico followed in 48th at 20:10.4, while
Gabrielle Carroll crossed in 55th at 20:50.3. Freshman
Sarah Wisnieski rounded out Iona's competitors, finishing 59th in 21:08.0.
TOP 10 INDIVIDUALS
Princeton sophomore Meg Madison claimed the individual title in 17:32.4, ahead of Columbia senior Rory Clare in second at 17:47.3. The Tigers packed the front of the field, with Hannah Riggins finishing third, Abigail Errington fourth, Caroline Barton fifth, Anna McNatt sixth, and Kyah Anderson seventh. Columbia placed two more in the top 10 with Olivia Murray in eighth and Leanna Johnston in ninth, while Columbia freshman Ava Malagisi closed out the group in 10th.
TEAM SCORES
Princeton dominated the team race with just 19 points, placing six runners in the top seven overall. Columbia secured second with 43, while Yale earned third with 79. Army and Binghamton tied for fourth with 127 points apiece.
