RIVERDALE, NY - Iona University men's cross country sophomores Nick Soldevere and Lachlan Wellington were the Gaels' top finishers at the 2022 IC4A Championship at Van Cortlandt Park. The two crossed within four spots of each other in 27th and 30th place respectively.

IONA INDIVIDUALS

Soldevere's time of 24:51.9 was three seconds faster than his teammate Wellington (24:54.9) in the 8k race. Sophomore Peter Schulten (79th, 25:43.1), freshman Tadhg Donnelly (145th, 26:24.0) and sophomore Nick Sinofsky (207th, 27:00.5) rounded out the scorers for the Maroon & Gold whose start list included all first and second-year performers.

THE REST OF THE FIELD

Princeton, Cornell, Stony Brook, UMass Lowell, and Yale took the top five team spots in the event. The Gaels finished 12th among the 31 teams entered. Princeton sophomore Anthony Monte was the top individual, posting a 23:52.8.

The Maroon & Gold is back in action in two weeks for the 2022 MAAC Championships at The Crossings of Colonie in Loudonville, NY. Iona seeks to extend the NCAA's longest active conference championship winning streak in any sport to 32 straight in the New York capital region. The Gaels have won 36 of the 41 MAAC Championships held since 1981.
