RIVERDALE, NY - The Iona University women's cross country team earned a third-place team finish at the 27th Annual Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park. Sophomore
Madison Klein finished seventh overall to lead the Gaels.
Klein crossed the Joe Dula Women's Championship 5k line in 18:55.2 and was the lone Top 10 finisher for the Maroon & Gold. A pair of freshmen,
Alexa Doe (19:35.3) and
McKenna Arguien (19:36.5) crossed back-to-back in 19th and 10th place. Junior
Maya Richardson was 24th in 19:40.7 while
Cosmina Spiridon was the squad's final scorer (40th, 20:44.4).
Iona's team score of 101 points tied with UConn for third place. Binghamton (36) took home the team title and also boasted the event's top three finishers. Army (46) was second. St. John's (129), Buffalo (138), Fairfield (140), Concordia-St. Paul (237), and Yeshiva (270) finished fifth through ninth.
The Gaels are back in action next weekend at the Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh University.
