HARTFORD, CT - The Iona University women's rowing team opened its 2023-24 campaign in its first regatta under Director of Rowing Ben MacDougald at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta on the Connecticut River. The Gaels were represented by its Varsity 8 boat in the Open 8+ event.
 
Coxed by junior Cara Donnelly the Gaels' V8+ boat featured junior Grace Barber, junior Kaeli Dean, junior Emma Ibbetson, senior Abigail Kokiadis, junior Anna Meehan, sophomore Mackenna Agosti, junior Grace Mutze, and junior Layne McDonald. The Iona crew finished 13th overall in the 25-boat Open 8+ race posting a time of 14:59.63. Rhode Island's A-boat was the race winner in 13:41.99.
 
Iona continues action this fall at the Navy Day Regatta in Philadelphia in two weeks.
