BOSTON, MA - Five members of the Iona University indoor track program competed at the 2023 David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday.
WOMEN'S 800-METER RUN
Junior
Grace Sparrow ran a personal best 2:13.43 in the 800-meter event, good for 98th place overall and the third fastest time in the MAAC this season. It was nearly a second faster than her previous best time set last year at the same event.
WOMEN'S MILE
Junior
Gabrielle Toth ran a personal best time of 4:56.07 in the mile event, topping her previous fastest time by nearly three seconds and running her second straight sub-5 minute mile this season. Her time is the third fastest among MAAC competitors this season. She was 119th overall in the 288 runner race field. Junior

WOMEN'S 3,000-METER RUN
Sophomore
Madison Klein was the Gaels top performer in the 3k event, finishing 145th overall with a time of 9:56.70. Klein's time was sixth fastest in the MAAC this season entering next weekend's championships. Sophomore
Cosmina Spiridon ran a personal best time of 10:15.48, shaving 17.5 seconds off her previous fastest time in the Ramapo meet last month. She was 209th overall. A total of 283 runners competed in 16 heats in the event.
