NEW YORK, NY - The Iona University women's indoor track & field team earned a fourth place finish at the 2023 MAAC Championships at the Armory Track and Field Center. After winning a gold medal in the long jump on the first night, the Gaels picked up two bronze medals on Sunday. Sophomore
Kedarjah Lewis medaled in the 60-meter dash and junior
Grace Sparrow earned third place honors in the 800-meter run.
WOMEN'S 60-METER RUN
Lewis matched her school record time from a night earlier, running a 7.68. Her second medal of the meet and fourth in her two seasons in Maroon & Gold. Her time was .03 shy of Rider Mariah Stevens' silver medal performance and .09 behind Mount Saint Mary's Zionna Perez-Tucker.
WOMEN'S 800-METER RUN
Sparrow shaved more than four seconds off her preliminary time and earned bronze with a 2:17.13. Sophomore
Katie Menard earned eighth place points with a 2:20.99.
WOMEN'S MILE
Junior
Gabrielle Toth placed fourth in the mile, posting a 5:14.35. She improved on her No. 6 seed in the preliminaries. Sophomore
Cosmina Spiridon ran a 5:19.88 and finished ninth.
WOMEN'S 4x400-METER RUN
Freshman
Nadine Jefremow, Menard, sophomore
Jamie Gudyka and Sparrow earned fifth place points in the 4x400-meter relay.
WOMEN'S 3,000-METER RUN
Sophomore
Madison Klein finished sixth in the women's 3k with a time of 9:57.24. Toth was ninth (10:06.47) in her second event of the evening.
TEAM SCORES
Rider captured the team championship with 193 points. Quinnipiac was second (179 points) and Mount St. Mary's third (82). The Gaels tied Manhattan with 47 points. Siena (43), Saint Peter's (43), Canisius (13) and Marist (9) rounded out the team finishes.
