Iona WBB Climbs To No. 14 in College Insider Mid-Major Top 25

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona University women's basketball team (20-5 overall, 15-1 MAAC) picked up 362 votes in the College Insider Women's Mid Major Top 25 Poll, moving up one spot to No. 14.

The Gaels extended their win streak to 14 consecutive games after defeating Siena and Mount St. Mary's this past week. Iona shot 75.5% from the floor, tied for the second-highest field goal percentage in NCAA history, in a 91-64 victory at home over Siena. The Maroon & Gold followed with a road win over the Mountaineers, seeing Ketsia Athias post a second straight double-double and earn MAAC Player of the Week honors.

The first-place Gaels rank second in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (41.3%), fifth in the country in field goal percentage (48.6%) and own the 11th best scoring defense (54.3) in all of Division I this season. Iona is still the only MAAC team currently inside the top 25 of the poll; Quinnipiac received 13 votes.

Iona wraps up its season series with Manhattan on Thursday, visiting the Jaspers for a 7:00 p.m. tip at Draddy Gymasnium. The Gaels return to the Hynes Center, where they are 11-1 and a perfect 7-0 against MAAC opponents this season, to host Canisius for senior day on Saturday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m.
