BOSTON, MA - Iona University men's indoor track sophomore
Matt Rankin and junior
Mael Gouyette both ran sub-4 minute miles at the Last Chance Indoor Qualifier at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.
Rankin blazed a personal best time of 3:58.06, his first sub-four mile and the second fastest time in school history. He is the seventh Gael in history to record a sub-four mile for the Maroon & Gold. He stands behind Richard Kiplagat's 3:57.40 from 2006 and ahead of current assistant coach
Liam Dee's 3:58.19 in 2017.
Goyette also ran a personal best time of 3:58.38 in his second collegiate sub-four effort. It becomes the fourth fastest mile at Iona behind Kiplagat, Rankin and Dee.
Rankin and Goyette's efforts were the top two collegiate times in their heat and sixth and seventh fastest overall in the event.
