No. 14 Iona WBB Draws No. 3 Duke in NCAA Tournament

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The No. 14 seeded Iona University women's basketball team (26-6, 18-2 MAAC) will be playing the No. 3 seeded Duke Blue Devils in the opening round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament in Durham, North Carolina on Saturday, March 18 at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN2.

The winner of the contest will face the winner of No. 6 Colorado vs. No. 11 Middle Tennessee State, scheduled to tip at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Duke claimed the No. 3 seed in the Seattle Bracket, achieving a 25-6 overall record, and a 14-4 mark in the ACC. As the No. 2 seed, the Blue Devils rallied to defeat North Carolina before falling to No. 3 seeded Virginia Tech.
The Blue Devils are currently ranked 13th in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Poll.

Iona won its second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship, taking down No. 8 Mount St. Mary's, No. 4 Siena, and No. 6 Manhattan in the 2023 MAAC Championship Game. This is Iona's second trip to the Big Dance in program history and the Gaels' highest seeding in the NCAA Tournament, having previously earned a No. 15 seed in the 2016 season.

Iona and Duke have met once before, seeing the Gaels fall victim to the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium in the 2012-13 season.
