PROVIDENCE, RI - The Iona University men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Friar Invitational 2023 at Ray Treacy Track at Hendricken Field in Providence. Sophomore
Kedarjah Lewis starred in the sprint events, while junior
Madison Klein and sophomore
Holly Smith were the top performers in the distance events for the Gaels in Rhode Island.
WOMEN'S 100-METER DASH
Lewis took first the 100-meter event with a season best 12.33. In the same heat, junior
Tonian Fullerton was sixth with a time of 13.55, a tenth of a second shy of her personal best.
WOMEN'S 200-METER DASH
Lewis also earned first place in the 200-meters, posting a 25.84. It was a personal best time for the sophomore and the second fastest 200 time in Iona history. She leaped over Heather Bourgault's 26.15 from 2015 and now stands just .2 seconds behind the school record holder Tamantha Pizarro. A trio of Gaels, freshman

WOMEN'S 5,000-METER RUN
Klein continued her steady progress by running a personal best over 5,000-meter time of 17:03.09, taking a good fourth-place finish.
WOMEN'S 3,000-METER RUN
Smith also posted a personal best time in her event, the 3,000-meter run. Her time of 9:49.69 and ranked seventh overall. In the same heat, teammate
Cosmina Spiridon finished 20
th (10:18.04).
WOMEN'S 100-METER HURDLES
Hickey finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.24 (-0.4m/s).
WOMEN'S 3,000-METER STEEPLECHASE
Freshman
McKenna Arguien also earned a sixth place finish, posting a time of 11:48.12 in her collegiate 3,000-meter steeplechase debut.
WOMEN'S 400-METER RUN
Freshman
Megan Sterbenz and junior
Jamie Gudyka ran 1:00.73 and 1:06.1 and finished seventh and 10
th overall respectively in the 400-meter run.
WOMEN'S 800-METER RUN
Junior
Grace Sparrow ran a personal best time in the 800-meter run with the time of 2:12.12 to finish 10th overall. Menard ran a 2:17.91, good for a 19th place finish.
WOMEN'S MILE RUN
Maya Richardson finished 22nd overall with the time of 5:10.05.
