NEW YORK, NY - The Iona University women's outdoor track and field team competed at the 2023 Metropolitan Intercollegiate Track & Field Association Championships at Icahn Stadium on Saturday. Sophomore
Holly Smith was the Gaels' top performer with a third place finish in the 1,500-meter event.
WOMEN'S 1,500-METER RUN
Smith's third place time in the 1,500-meter run was 4:45.52 in her first recorded collegiate outdoor 1500. Junior
Maya Richardson followed closely behind in fourth place in 4:46.07. Rookie
McKenna Arguien earned 10th place in 5:00.34.
WOMEN'S 100-METER DASH
Sophomore
Kedarjah Lewis ran
12.69 in the preliminary heats of the 100-meter dash but did not compete in the final. Her personal best time and school record in the event is 12.15. Only one other runner in Iona history has posted a faster time than 12.69 (Tamantha Pizarro, 2019, 12.68).
WOMEN'S 3,000-METER STEEPLECHASE
Sophomore
Cosmina Spiridon also earned a fourth place finish, posting a 11:41.30 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
WOMEN'S 800-METER RUN
Sophomore
Katie Menard was the Gaels final top 10 performer, placing seventh in the 800-meter event (2:19.64).
