NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona University celebrated the academic achievements of its most outstanding students at its annual Honors Convocation on Thursday, May 18. All graduating seniors who were members of honor societies were recognized during the ceremony.
Among all the graduating seniors were numerous student-athletes. Three Gaels earned the event's top awards as gold medalists in their respective degrees. Women's soccer senior
Jenna Daly earned the medal for excellence in Business Administration and women's soccer warned the Br. Joseph G. McKenna Memorial Award for Academic Excellence, both presented by the faculty of the LaPenta School of Business. Women's cross country/track senior
Gabrielle Toth was awarded the medial for excellence in the social and behavior sciences by the faculty of the School of Arts & Science.
Volleyball's
Julia Thomas earned the George and Margaret Pappas Scholarship Award, an endowed scholarship given to a full-time senior accepted to a school of medicine or to a program in a related health science. The scholarship award is a perpetual tribute to the many years of devoted service given to Iona University by Dr. & Mrs. Pappas.
