CHERRY HILL, NJ - The Iona University women's rowing team raced two boats at the 2024 Knecht Cup on the Cooper River on Sunday. The Gaels pitted varsity four and eight crews at the regatta.
VARSITY 4+
Iona's V4 boat was coxed by junior
Ciana Quintana with junior
Anna Meehan at the stern, sophomore
Lorelei Teddy, freshman
Amelia Rosario, and freshman
Carly Schofield at the bow. The Gaels finished fourth in heat five, posting a time of 8:36.49. They finished behind UMass, Jacksonville and Sacred Heart while beating Dayton. The Maroon & Gold's time was also ahead of Villanova, George Mason, Drake, and West Point competing in the other four heats. UMass, Jacksonville, and Georgetown finished 1-2-3 in the grand final race.
VARSITY 8+
The V8 boat finished fifth in its heat, racing against Georgetown, La Salle, UConn, Eastern Michigan, and Monmouth. The Gaels finished seven seconds ahead of the Hawks in the heat. Overall, the Gaels' time of 7:10.55 topped Monmouth, Drake, Dayton, George Mason, and West Point. Iona's boat consisted of junior
