Sahir Balyan Named MAAC Golf of the Month

EDISON, N.J. – Iona University men's golf standout Sahir Balyan has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Golfer of the Month for October, recognizing his strong play throughout the fall stretch, highlighted by an individual title and consistent performances across multiple events.

Balyan's month was headlined by a spectacular victory at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational, held at The Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, New York. He opened the tournament with a blistering 7-under-par 65 in the first round, followed by a steady 2-under-par 70 on day two to finish at 9-under (135), capturing the individual title in dominant fashion.

He also delivered a solid showing at Iona's home event at Wykagyl Country Club, finishing tied for 26th place after posting rounds of 76-75-75 (+10).
