STONY BROOK NY - The Iona University women's outdoor track & field team took on the Stony Brook Snowflake Classic Saturday in their outdoor season opener. Multiple Maroon & Gold competitors took home personal bests on the track, while Tyaja Thomas highlighted Iona's efforts in the field events as she finished first place in the Shot Put event.  

WOMEN'S SHOT PUT

Tyaja Thomas finished first out of a group of seven competitors, hitting a mark of 10.14 meters.  

WOMEN'S 400-meter Dash

The Maroon & Gold counted four finishers in the 400-meter dash, with Lauren Sonski being the first Gael across the line with a time of 1:01.01, good enough for third place. Maddy Luscombe (7th, 1:02.56) and Payton Foster (11th, 1:05.60) both achieved personal bests while Megan Sterbenz rounded out the list of Iona finishers coming in 12th with a time of 1:05.92.  

WOMEN'S 800-METER run

Clodagh McGroary set a personal best time of 2:27.48, finishing third out of seven finishers.

WOMEN'S 3000-meter run

Alexa Doe became the next Iona athlete to earn a personal best mark, setting a time of 10:52.97 in the 3000-meter event and crossing the line in third.
