STORRS, CT - The Iona University women's track and field team competed in day two of the UConn Northeast Challenge on Friday. Multiple Gaels notched top-10 finishes, while Rihanna Burgher and
Ava McAuliffe were some of those in Maroon & Gold to mark personal best times in their respective events. In a field of 11 teams, the Gaels brought in 27 points and finished eighth.
WoMEN'S 400-METER dash
Ava McAuliffe was the first Gael across the line in the 400-meter event, finishing 11th with a personal best time of 58.07. McAuliffe's effort sits at number two all-time in Iona outdoor track history, and seventh fastest in the MAAC this season.
Zaheira Hegazi was the next Gael finisher, crossing the line in twelfth with a personal best time of 58.87.
woMEN'S 3000-meter steeplechase
Kate Tugman set a time of 11:32.82 to finish second in the three-kilometer steeplechase event.
Alexa Doe followed in fourth, setting a personal best time of 11:50.47.
woMEN'S 200-meter Dash
Rihanna Burgher finished with a personal best time of 26.76, finishing 22nd overall out of 28 finishers. Burgher's time sits in the top-five of the Iona record book in the 200-meter event.
