GENEVA, OH - The 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships ended the same way it has ended for three consecutive years… with the Iona men taking he final event, the 400-yard Freestyle Relay. The Iona quartet of Harry Platt (45.15), Nate Wales (44.88), James Gonzalez (45.01) and Kieran Egan (43.74) combined for a 2:58.78 clocking and a .4 win over Niagara.
The win gave Iona 1,017.83 points in the 4-day 40-event program. Fairfield (12341.83); Marist (1276) and Niagara (1139.33) took the top 3 men's spots.
The Iona women's 400-Free Relay combo of Mary Garce Waring (52.55), Victoria Mordaunt (52.76), Paige Fiorino (52.88) and Raegan O'Brien (52.40) combined for eighth place at 3:30.59. The Iona women's 40-event total was 724-points. Fairfield (1325.5), Marist (1315.5), Niagara (1074) and Sacred Heart (893.5) had the top four spots.
The 200-yard Backstroke had Raegan O'Brien take silver with a new team record of 2:00.73. Julie Hulse was 12that 2:05.13. The men's race had
Noah Giunta take ninth at 1:47.58;
Owen Znachowski and
Wyatt Julian finished 19thand 23rd with respective times of 1:50.59 and 1:51.73.
Ten 100-Free saw waring take 14th at 52.27, with
Paige Fiorino 23rd at 53.69. Then men's 100-Free had Egan win gold at 44.13. Teammates
Harry Platt (44.78) and
Nate Wales (45.11) took third and fifth. James Gonzales (45.65),
Elijah Decasseres (45.69) and
Robert Heim (46.43) were 12th, 13th and 21st places respectively.
The 200-yard Breaststroke for women was one of the team's highest scoring events. Brennyn Veit (2:19.85); Sydney Cronin (2:20.53); Hailey Baker (2:22.85) and Francesca Fields (2:26.64) ended up in 5th, 9th, 10th and 22ndrespectively.
The men's race had Max Buchen (2:03.89), Mikel Palaj (2:04.67) and Jonathan Rielly 2:08.50) take 17th, 18th and 22nd place.
The 200-yard Butterfly saw Marissa Hengesbach (2:07.11), Erin McKinney (2:13.170 and Maddie Lauria (2:13.55) place 10th, 22nd and 23rd, The men's race had
Harry Summers (1:52.86),
Declan McGlynn (1:52.86)
Dylan Malave (1:53.40) and
Colin Martin (2:00.49) place respectively, 12th, 13th, 16th and 23rd.
The women's 1650-Free had Anabel Hufftsutler (17:39.19), Kylie McCue (17:49.82), Katherine Sarnes (17:53.62), Kate Kennedy (18:01.82) place 10th, 13th, 15th, and 18th. The men's race had Matthew Wyoksnar place ninth at 16:09.73;
Tomek Oakes was 16th at 16:22.10.
The men's 1-Meter Springboard had Joel Picard (231.75); Dylan Riccio (195.30) and Neil Senhouse (134.35) place fifth, eighth and eleventh, respectively.
