NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona University men's outdoor track & field senior
Jiles Addison and women's junior
Tyaja Thomas were named MAAC Men's and Women's Field Athlete of the Week, respectively, following standout performances at the 2026 Metropolitan Championships at Icahn Stadium.
Addison captured the men's triple jump title with a winning mark of 14.32 meters. The defending MAAC indoor triple jump champion topped a 10-athlete field and outdistanced the runner-up by nearly eight inches. His mark ranks as the second-longest triple jump in the MAAC during the 2026 outdoor season.
The senior also helped Iona claim another Metropolitan Championship title as part of the Gaels' winning 4x100-meter relay team. Addison joined
Joshua Aceto,
Jaylen Mozone and
Cameron Washington to post a first-place time of 42.03, edging the field by 0.15 seconds.
Addison accounted for two event victories on the day and helped lead Iona to one of its strongest performances of the outdoor season.
Thomas earned the women's field honor after successfully defending her Metropolitan Championship title in the javelin. The junior posted a winning throw of 40.10 meters, the longest javelin mark in the MAAC this week and the third-longest throw in the conference this season.
Thomas' winning throw came within three inches of her personal best and the mark she used to win last year's Metropolitan Championship.
In addition to her victory in the javelin, Thomas placed eighth in the discus with a mark of 34.36 meters. The throw ranks 13th in the MAAC this season and was the third-best discus mark in the conference this week.
