EDISON, NJ— Iona University men's soccer freshman Brayden O'Boyle was named Metro Conference Rookie of the Week following his two-goal performance in the 6-1 victory over Canisius on Saturday afternoon at Mazzella Field.

He is the third rookie for the Maroon & Gold to earn conference weekly honors after Ignacio Manzanares earned Metro Offensive Player & Rookie of the Week on August 24 and Adriano Sofio was named Defensive Player of the Week on August 31.

The Commack, NY native recorded his first career brace in the conference-opening victory over the Golden Griffins. O'Boyle entered the contest in the 26th minute and made an immediate impact, scoring twice in the 34th and 44th minutes to help the Maroon & Gold secure its first league win of the season.
