Four Gaels in double figures made for an exciting Iona victory over Long Island University in the first round of the postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament. Martina Weber led the team with 27 points to go along with seven rebounds. The Maroon & Gold (21-12) shot 56.9% from the floor, just a slim margin ahead of LIU's (22-9) 56.5%.

With the win, Iona advances to the second round, traveling to Indiana for a 12:00 pm tip on Mar. 18.

Tiara Headen added 15 points, all in the second half, while Lauren DeFalco and Toni Horvath netted 14 and 13 respectively. Horvath's ten assists were a season-best.

Freshman Valerie Nainima paced the field, scoring 30 points while depositing six-for-six from three point range.
