Durham, NC - The Iona College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Duke in non-conference action on the road this afternoon. The Gaels (0-2) dropped the opener 10-2 before falling 10-0 in the night cap.
After Duke (2-0) got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning, Iona tied the score in the third. Junior SS

Duke added two in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-1 lead. Iona cut the deficit in half in the fifth. Senior CF
Paul Salerno doubled to lead off the inning and then stole third base. Sophomore LF
Andrew Passerelle doubled home Salerno for Iona's final run of the contest.
The Blue Devils scored seven runs in the fifth and sixth inning to round out their scoring.

Mike Walraven was 3-for-4 in the contest, all singles. Salerno as 2-for-5 with the run scored.
Senior LHP
Kevin Carmody (0-1) took the loss, allowing five earned runs through 4.1 innings pitched.
In the night cap, the home team scored four times in the bottom of the first and never looked back. Junior 1B
