Annapolis, MD - Rhode Island scored nine times in the fourth through seventh innings in a 11-4 defeat of the Iona College baseball team at the Navy Round Robin Tournament. The Gaels (0-6) pounded out a season-high 12 hits in the loss.

Joe Lorenzo led off the frame with a double. He was sacrificed to third by senior 2B
Ralph Marzella and scored on a wild pitch. Rhode Island answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Andrew Passerelle drilled his first home run of the season to give Iona a 3-2 lead.
The Rams took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth inning and stretched it to 11-3 after seven innings.
The Maroon & Gold scored again in the eighth as junior C
Andrew Wernicki was singled home by Lorenzo with no outs. Wernicki led off the frame with a triple.
Lorenzo was 3-for-3 in the game with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Passerelle and senior CF

Kevin Carmody (0-2) took the loss allowing four runs through four innings.
The Gaels complete action in Annapolis tomorrow in a doubleheader with Navy. The opener is slated to begin at Noon.
