NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College men's soccer team extended its season-ending winning streak to three games with a 2-0 vanquish over Loyola on senior day. With the victory, the Gaels (8-8-1, 6-3 MAAC) secured the third spot in the final Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season standings and a berth in the 2010 MAAC Championship tournament.

Julian Grajales notched his third goal of the year, opening the scoring in the 30th minute. Freshman MF
Franklin Castellanos crossed the ball with a free kick from the right sideline, and Grajales headed it from just off the left post into the back of the net.
Iona extended its lead five minutes later on a similar set-up. A free kick by senior D
Roberto Hernandez-Raaen was settled toward the center of the field, drawing Greyhound goalkeeper Thurman Van Riper out of position. Castellanos maneuvered around a Loyola defender and scored into an empty net. With the 2-0 cushion, the Maroon & Gold was able to hold off its opponent through the second half to earn the shutout.
The Gaels led 15-9 in shots and 7-5 in corner kicks in the contest. Sophomore goalie
Jesse Fullerton made three saves for Iona before coming out of the game. First-year keeper
Dylan Bauver made his debut appearance for the final 12:41.
As the third seed in the MAAC Men's Soccer Championship, Iona will face No. 2 seed Siena in the semifinals at 3:00 pm on Nov. 12. This year's tournament will be hosted by Loyola in Baltimore.
