EUGENE, OR- Iona College women's outdoor track sophomore Heidi Gregson finished eighth in the second heat of the NCAA Championship 1500-meter semifinal at the University of Oregon's Heyward Field. Gregson missed the qualification mark for the finals on Saturday with her time of 4:22.89.

The time was Gregson's fourth fastest in a season where she set the school record time in the event. Her 4:19.14 in the quarterfinal mark set a new Iona standard. In order to advance Gregson had to finish in the Top 5 in her heat or record one of the next two fastest times.

The event completes a historical 2009-10 season for the women's program. After winning a conference record fifth straight MAAC Cross Country championship in the fall, several track records were set in the winter and spring, including three by Gregson in indoor 800-meter and mile and outdoor 1500-meter event.
