MADISON, WI - The Iona College men's cross country team finished 25th at the 2021 Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational held at Thomas Zimmer Championship Course on the campus of the University of Wisconsin. Senior
Ehab El-Sandali was the Gaels' top finisher in 36th place. The race field consisted of 24 teams that were ranked or receiving votes in the latest USTFCCCA NCAA DI National Coaches' Poll.
El-Sandali completed the 8k event in 23:54.9. Sophomore
Joshua DeSouza was the Maroon & Gold's No. 2 finisher in 45th place in 24:01.4. Junior
Graham Baird (141st, 24:46.6), sophomore
Jonathan DeSouza (152nd, 24:54.8) and freshman
Matthew Rankin (168th, 25:06.4) also scored for Iona.
No. 6 Iowa State took the team title with 88 points. They were followed by No. 3 Stanford, No. 12 Tulsa, No. 11 and host Wisconsin, and No. 10 Air Force rounding out the top five. The No. 14 ranked Gaels earned a 530 team score.
The Gaels will have a squad compete tomorrow at the Princeton Invitational.
