Iona Golf Closes Out Round Two Of UConn Invite

HAMPDEN, MA - Iona men's golf team finishes the second round of the UConn Invitational, looking for a bounce back final round tomorrow at GreatHorse golf course in Hampden, MA.

The Maroon & Gold came into the clubhouse at 36-over par 324 to close out the second 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament. The Gaels currently sit in 13th place 14 strokes outside the top ten.

Grad Student Gonzalo Arcelay was Iona's top finisher for the second day in a row, the spain native carded his second 78 (+6) as he sits 12-over for the event and just outside the top 40 individually. Parker Smith and Connor Henderson repeated round one as they both posted another 81 (+9) round and currently sit at 18-over for the tournament.

Freshman Zach Baldwin got off to a good start with a birdie on the opening hole, but the Florida native posted a 12-over 84. Finnigan Davies currently sits at 29-over for the event.

As a team the Gaels carded three more birdies than round one. The team will tee off in the morning for the third and final round of the UConn Invite.
