Kedarjah Lewis led the way with school record performances in the 100-meter dash and long jump. Men's junior
Jadyn Tabois rank the second fastest 100- time in Iona history and fastest in the last 36 years.
WOMEN'S 100-METER DASH
Continuing a stellar 2021-22 campaign for the dual-sport rookie, Lewis smashed the school record in the 100-meter in her first collegiate outdoor event. Lewis' time of 12.15 was more than a half-second faster than the previous mark held by Tamantha Pizzaro and set at the at the 2019 Metropolitan Championships. Lewis finished second in her heat and ran the 31st fastest time among the 70 finishers at the meet.
WOMEN'S LONG JUMP
Lewis made short work of the Iona long jump record in her outdoor debut, posting a best jump of 5.10m and breaking Pizzaro's previous mark by nearly three inches.
MEN'S 100-METER DASH
A quartet of sprint squad members competed in four different heats in the 100-meter dash. Tabois time of 10.49, was the second fastest time in school history, and fastest since the standard of 10.20 was set in 1986 by Robert Wright. The previous No. 2 time of 10.72 was held by teammate
Prince Forson and set at the 2019 Metropolitan Championships. Tabois ran the 12th fastest time among the 69 competitors in the event. He won his heat by nearly .3 seconds.
Forson, now a senior, ran the second fastest 100-meter time for the Gaels in Raleigh, posting a 10.752, while finishing second his heat by .02. It was the 32nd best time in the event.
Sophomore
Jordan Providence placed just .005 seconds behind Forson earning a 10.757. Following Wright, Tabois, and Forson, Providence holds the fourth fastest 100-meter time in Iona history.
Senior
Kevin Fullerton earned the top time in his heat, crossing in 10.96 for the 51st fastest time among the nine sections of the event.
MEN'S 4 X 100-METER RELAY
Tabois, Forson, Providence, and Fullerton teamed up for the 4 x 100-meter relay on Saturday and finished ninth among the 18 schools competing in 41.56. They finished third overall in their heat behind Ohio State and Central Connecticut.
WOMEN'S 5,000-METER RUN
Running in arguably one the fastest of the eight sections, senior
Nadine Donegan finished 15th in her heat, and ran the 49th fastest time with a 16:38.29. in the 5k event. The personal best effort ranks No. 8 on Iona's all-time list.
OTHER IONA EFFORTS
Sophomore
Gabrielle Toth ran a 4:37.32 in the women's 1,500-meter event, finishing seventh in her heat. It was a collegiate best time and placed her on Iona's top 20 all time list for the event. Classmate
Grace Sparrow also competed, crossing in 4:41.56.
Junior
Graham Baird raced in the 10,000-meter run and finished in 30:13.80.
