RIVERDALE, NY - Iona University women's cross country sophomore
Holly Smith was the Gaels' top performer at the 2023 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship at Van Cortlandt Park Friday morning. Smith led the Maroon & Gold to a 15th place team finish.

Smith finished the 6k course in 20:28.9, good for 23rd place
and All-Region honors. Sophomore
Tayla Gunton was the Gaels' No. 2 finisher, placing 77th with a time of 21:18.8. Freshman
Claragh Keane (21:26.4) and junior
Madison Klein (21:30.6) crossed within four spots of each other in 89th and 93rd place. Iona's fifth finisher was rookie
Lily Overton (21:56.1) in 125th. Senior
Susie O'Flynn (190th, 23:00.2) and junior
Cosmina Spiridon (232nd, 23:54.0) also competed for the Gaels.
TEAM SCORES
Syracuse (98), Boston College (109), Providence (137), Harvard (140), and Columbia (167) represented the top five teams. With 403 team points, the Gaels were the second MAAC team in the standings, finishing behind Quinnipiac in ninth place.
