STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Iona University men's and women's indoor track and field programs competed at the Fastrack Indoor Collegiate Qualifier at Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Friday. Eight competitors competed in nine different events highlighted by a second-place performance by sophomore
Kedarjah Lewis in the long jump.
WOMEN'S LONG JUMP
Lewis best jump of 5.63m was less than seven inches behind the event winner from LaSalle. It was the third longest jump in the MAAC this season and less than four inches off her personal best from 2022.
WOMEN'S 800-METER RUN
Sophomore
Katie Menard's 17th place performance in the women's 800-meter event was the top finish for the Gaels in Staten Island Friday. She finished with a time of 2:22.44 and was fifth in her heat. Classmate
Jamie Gudyka finished fourth in her heat and 42nd overall with a 2:29.40
WOMEN'S 60-METER HURDLES PRELIM
Freshman
Maeghan Hickey finished sixth in her heat and was 19th overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.66. It was .1 seconds shy of her season best.
MEN'S 5,000-METER RUN
Sophomore Matthew Penna was the top men's performer, finishing 20th overall in the 5k event, posting a time of 15:34.28.
MEN'S MILE RUN
Junior
Campbell Lee was 23rd in the mile, recording a time of 4:21.62
MEN'S 400-METER RUN
Iona's final top 40 finisher in Staten Island was junior
John Conroy's effort in the 400-meter event. He was fourth in his heat and 36th overall in 51.93.
