EDISON, NJ – Iona University men's and women's cross country standouts
Tayla Gunton and
Duncan Robinson have been named MAAC Runners of the Week, announced by the conference office. The duo's performances at the ECAC Championship and Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, respectively, earned them the league's top weekly honors.
Gunton captured the individual title at the 2025 ECAC Championship at Van Cortlandt Park, finishing first in the 6,000-meter race with a time of 20:20.6. The junior edged Fairfield's Hannah Snayd by just over a second to claim the crown, leading the Gaels to a fourth-place team finish. She became Iona's first-ever ECAC individual champion and just the third-ever in MAAC history.
On the men's side, Robinson was Iona's top performer at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, placing 44th overall in a national-caliber field at the Thomas Zimmer XC Course. The junior crossed the line in 23:55.3, pacing the Gaels to a 23rd-place team finish in a meet that featured 23 programs ranked or receiving votes in the USTFCCCA Top 30 poll.
Gunton and Robinson join
Bradley Giblin, who was recognized by the MAAC on October 1, as Iona's 2025 conference weekly award winners.
The Gaels turn their attention to the 2025 MAAC Championship, held November 1 at Twin Ponds on the FARM in Montgomery, NY, as both programs look to continue their championship tradition.
