CONTOOCOOK, NH - Competing at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds, hosted by Boston College, the Iona University women's cross country team finished 17th overall among 37 teams in the 6k race. Junior
Tayla Gunton led the Gaels with a strong individual effort, crossing the line in 36th place in 20:46.5, setting the tone for Iona's scoring five.

Six Gaels completed the race, with the top five contributing to the team score. Junior

Muireann Duffy followed in 78th place with a time of 21:19.8, providing crucial points for the team. Freshman
Sofia Lumbreras crossed 83rd in 21:21.8, rounding out the top three scorers. Sophomore
Kiera Atkinson finished 135th in 21:57.8, and freshman
Kayleigh Atkinson placed 151st in 22:09.6 to complete Iona's scoring five. Junior
McKenna Arguien also competed for the Gaels, crossing the line in 167th place in 22:25.3, adding valuable depth to the team.
THE RACE FIELD
The top five finishers were separated by less than four seconds in a tightly contested 6k race. Army senior Charlotte Richman claimed the individual title in 19:52.8. Boston College senior Imogen Gardiner finished a close second in 19:53.8, followed by Harvard senior Molly Malague in 19:54.6. Syracuse sophomore Selma Anderson took fourth in 19:55.3, and Boston College junior Ella Fadil completed the top five in 19:56.2.
TEAM SCORES
Boston College captured the team title with 60 points, narrowly holding off Providence, which finished second with 71 points. Army claimed third with 91 points, while Syracuse placed fourth with 126 points. Yale rounded out the top five with 153 points.
UP NEXT
The NCAA Northeast Regional Championship concludes the 2025 cross country campaign for Iona. The Gaels will transition to indoor track and field, with competition beginning in December.
