Lawry Named MAAC Rookie of the Week

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Cullen Lawry gathered his first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week award as a result of outstanding efforts on the offensive side over two games this weekend for the Iona University men's lacrosse team. Lawry, who made history as the first goal scorer in Gaels history in the inaugural game vs. Hofstra the week prior, totaled nine goals, one assist, three ground balls, and 25 shots over the weekend.

The highlight of the intense back-to-back games for the true Freshman came Sunday against Hampton in what would be Iona's first program victory. Lawry netted a six point afternoon with a career-best five goals and a career-first assist. The Westfield, Massachusetts native landed 10 of his 16 shots of the game on target and scooped up one ground ball in a historic 13-9 victory over the Pirates. 

Cullen Lawry and the Gaels look to continue their momentum for their first program victory as they turn to another away tilt, this time at LIU on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
