NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona University men's lacrosse freshman
Carson Turissini earned both MAAC Player and MAAC Rookie of the Week honors following his standout performances in the Gaels' 1-1 week.
Turissini becomes the first Iona player to claim Player of the Week accolades and the first Gael to earn Rookie of the Week honors in 2026.
The freshman attackman totaled 11 points on five goals and six assists over two games, helping lead Iona to a home victory over Mount St. Mary's before a narrow one-goal setback at Merrimack.
Turissini opened the week with one of the top individual performances in program history in the Gaels' 15-14 win over Mount St. Mary's on March 25. He set a school record with six assists and matched the program mark with nine points, adding three goals for his second collegiate hat trick.
With the game tied 14-14 in the closing seconds, Turissini delivered the decisive moment. As the shot clock wound down and just 7.3 seconds remained, he fired home the game-winning goal to give the Maroon & Gold their second victory of the season.
Turissini followed with two goals in Saturday's 11-10 loss at Merrimack. The effort marked his team-leading 10th multi-point performance in 13 games and his fifth contest with at least two goals.
For the season, Turissini leads the Gaels with 36 points on 17 goals and 19 assists.
Last season, teammates

Iona returns to action this Saturday, hosting Siena at Mazzella Field. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
