PHILIDELPHIA, PA -Â The Iona University men's outdoor track team competed in two events at the Penn Relays in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania on Thursday night. Both Gaels competing in the 3000-meter steeplechase took home personal bests, including
Billy Coogan who set the top mark in the MAAC this season. Â
MEN'S 3000-meter SteepleChase
Billy Coogan led the way for the Gaels in the chase with a personal best time of 8:54.37, finishing first in his heat and 17th overall. Coogan's time sits as the eighth fastest in school history, and the fastest in the MAAC this season.
Peter Fogarty was the next Gael across the line, finishing second in his heat and 18th overall with a personal best mark of 8:54.80. Fogarty's impressive time sits as the ninth best in school history, and second best in the MAAC at this point in the season.
MEN'S 5000-meter run
Four in Maroon & Gold competed in the five-kilometer run, with
Duncan Robinson finshing 23rd with a time of 14:04.17. Tristain Coles followed in 25th with a time of 14:09.73.
Ollie Boltz snagged a personal best time of 14:12.14 and finished 28th while Crock Crockett finished with a time of 14:37.91, placing 55th overall.Â
