LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Iona University men's outdoor track & field team competed in day one of the 2025 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday. Through the preliminary events, the Gaels qualified half a dozen athletes for Sunday's finals, with four Maroon & Gold athletes qualifying out of the 1500-meter event alone.
Billy Coogan took home gold in the steeplechase, with
Peter Fogarty landing a bronze in the same event.
Thomas Crockett earned the third Iona medal of the day with a silver in the 10-kilometer event.
MEN'S 3000-METER STeeplechase FINAL
Billy Coogan set off for a dominating first-place finish to earn the first gold medal for Iona at the 2025 MAAC Championships. Coogan's finish brought in 10 points for the Gaels as he finished nearly seven seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
Peter Fogarty snagged bronze for the Gaels with a time of 9:14.59 while
Andrew Fogarty brought in fourth place points with a personal best time of 9:21.05.
Men's 10,000-meter final
Thomas Crockett took home a silver medal and a strong eight points for the team in the 10-kilometer event, finishing with a time of 32.14.04.
Jack O'Keefe was the second Maroon & Gold Finisher with a time of 33.36.73, finishing 14th.
MEN'S 1500-meter RUN PRELIMINARIES
Duncan Robinson led the way for the Gaels, finishing first in the 1500-meter event preliminaries with a time of 3:57.89.
Bradley Giblin (2nd, 3:59.04) and
Tristan Coles (3rd, 4:03.76) rounded out the top three while
Christian Audrin finished 11th set a personal-best time of 4:02.67. All four of the Gael Athletes' times qualified for Sunday's final, with the four qualifiers for iona being the most of any school in the event.
MEN'S 110-METER hurdle PRELIMINARIES
Keith Holloway was the lone Iona representative in the 110-meter hurdles, setting a personal best time of 14.87. The sub-15 second time stood as seventh overall in the preliminaries qualifying Holloway for tomorrow's final.
MEN'S 200-METER dash PRELIMINARIES
Cameron Washington qualified for the 200-meter dash final, setting a time of 21.70 and finishing 6th in the preliminaries.
Jiles Addison (24th, 22.96) and
Dylan Donegan (26th, 23.06) also competed in the event.
