EDISON, NJ— Sophomore
Sofia Bigeni of the Iona University women's soccer team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Bigeni led the Gaels offensively with five points and tied for the league high in points in the 1-1 week. The New Hyde Park, NY native registered two goals and one assist in the 3-1 victory over Delaware State to close non-conference play. Bigeni opened with her first collegiate goal in the 36
th minute and followed that up with another long-range strike in the 42
nd for her first career brace. She capped the day with an assist on Iona's final goal in the 65
th minute. Bigeni ended the week playing 48 minutes in the Gaels setback to defending champions, Fairfield on Saturday.
