NEW YORK, NY - The Iona University women's indoor track and field team competed at the Dr. Sander Scorcher, hosted by Columbia University, on Friday and Saturday, January 23–24, at the Armory Track & Field Center.
MILE RUN INVITATIONAL
Junior
Tayla Gunton placed eighth in the invitational section with a time of 4:47.59, marking a personal best by nearly nine seconds. The performance moved her to No. 10 on Iona's all-time performance list and stands as one of the fastest mile times in the MAAC this season.
Freshman Alex Schulz finished 14th in 4:49.88, giving Iona the two fastest mile times in the MAAC this season between Gunton and Schulz.
800-METER RUN INVITATIONAL
Freshman
Sofia Lumbreras finished 14th with a time of 2:13.80. Her mark is the fastest 800-meter time in the MAAC this season, ahead of Marist junior Julianna Mirable in the same race, and ranks as the sixth-fastest time in program history.

Arabella Dickfos placed 11th in the open section, crossing in 2:19.01.
5000-METER RUN
Sophomore
Muireann Duffy recorded a 12th-place finish in 17:28.57, a time that ranks third in the MAAC this season, trailing teammate
Tayla Gunton and Quinnipiac's Zoe Merryman.
