BOSTON, MA – The Iona University women's indoor track & field team recorded three top-10 all-time performances in the 3,000 and 1,000-meter events at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
3,000-METER RUN
Junior
Tayla Gunton placed 16th overall in 9:11.70, recording the second-fastest 3,000-meter time in program history. Her mark represents a 45-second personal best from her effort at last March's Last Chance Indoor National Qualifier, contested on the same Boston University oval. Gunton now sits just behind Kate Avery's school record of 8:53.12, set at the 2015 Millrose Games.
Freshman
Alex Schulz finished 44th in 9:25.41, the eighth-fastest all-time performance in school history. Her effort places her less than a second shy of the freshman record of 9:24.51 set by former Olympian Maya Rehberg in 2014.
Iona's current all-time top 10 in the 3,000 meters features Avery's record, followed by Gunton and Egle Morenaite. Salome Kosgei ranks fourth, with Gemma Nuttall fifth. Rehberg's freshman mark stands sixth, with Schulz now among the top eight performers in program history. Tara Jameson, Heidi Gregson and Holly Smith round out the top 10.
1,000-METER RUN
Freshman
Arabella Dickfos placed 25th in 2:55.87 in her first collegiate 1,000-meter race. After competing in the 800-meter and mile events throughout her debut season, Dickfos moved into the record book with the sixth-fastest time in school history in the event.
