PROVIDENCE, RI – The Iona University women's outdoor track and field team competed at the Friar Invitational on Friday, April 10 at Ray Treacy Track at Hendricken Field, turning in a series of strong performances highlighted by multiple personal bests and program top-10 marks.
MILE RUN
Freshman
Alex Schulz delivered an impressive showing in her first outdoor mile, placing fourth in 4:48.96. The rookie's time marked a personal best by just under a second compared to her top indoor performance and ranks as the fourth fastest outdoor mile in program history.
800-METER INVITATIONAL RUN
Freshman
Sofia Lumbreras led the Gaels in the invitational section, placing fifth in 2:10.73. In her first outdoor 800, Lumbreras shattered her indoor best by nearly three seconds, recording the fourth fastest outdoor time in program history and setting a new freshman record, just shy of Regina Neumeyer's mark from 2012.
Freshman
Arabella Dickfos placed 11th in 2:12.13, also achieving an outdoor personal best by over three seconds from her performance at the Raleigh Relays. Her time ranks among the top 10 outdoor performances in program history.
3,000-METER INVITATIONAL RUN
Kiera Atkinson placed fifth in 9:53.10 in her first outdoor 3,000-meter race. The freshman's performance ranks as the eighth fastest in program history and is the second fastest outdoor 3K by a freshman at Iona.
200-METER DASH
Nadine Jefremow recorded an outdoor personal best of 26.91 to place 10th, moving into fourth place on Iona's all-time outdoor list.
Kaleigh Murphy finished 15th in 27.57, posting the sixth fastest time in program history.
Alexa Hermanns crossed in 18th with a time of 28.96, a mark that places her among Iona's top 25 all-time performers.
100-METER DASH
Hermanns added another strong sprint performance, placing 13th in 13.59. The freshman's time ranks eighth all-time at Iona.
3,000-METER RUN
Sarah Wisnieski finished ninth in 10:32.96, recording a time that ranks among Iona's top 25 all-time.
Alyssa Dovico placed 16th in 11:08.16, followed by
Alexa Doe in 17th with a time of 11:10.32.
400-METER RUN
Jefremow returned in the 400-meter run to place 15th in 1:00.80, finishing just half a second off her personal best. Murphy followed in 16th with a time of 1:07.31.
800-METER RUN
Gabby Carroll placed 17th in 2:19.45, finishing just outside Iona's top 25 all-time performance list.
