Iona Women's Golf Wraps Up Final Event Before MAAC Championship

PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Iona University women's golf team competed at the Rutgers Invitational this weekend, finishing 16th in a competitive 16-team field. The three-round event was held at the Rutgers University Golf Course.

The Gaels battled through a challenging field and demanding course conditions across all three rounds. Iona turned in its best team score during the second round, showing improvement and composure as the tournament progressed.

Leading the way for the Maroon & Gold was Leia McKenzie, who paced Iona with her performance across the 54-hole event. Michaela Fernandez followed, turning in a steady showing, while Maria Luiza Soares added another solid outing for the Gaels. Makenna Paxton and Cassandra Pinho rounded out the lineup.

Iona returns to action at the MAAC Women's Golf Championship, set to take place April 21–23 in Lake Buena Vista.
