NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona University women's soccer head coach
Todd Plourde announced the addition of
Gabrielle Isola to the program's coaching staff as an assistant coach. Isola joins the Gaels after coaching stops at William & Mary, Fordham, Ohio University, and most recently Montclair High School, where she worked primarily with goalkeepers.
"We're excited to welcome Gabby to the Iona family," Plourde said. "She has built a strong foundation working with goalkeepers and learning from outstanding coaches at every stop in her career. She brings great energy, strong technical knowledge, and a passion for player development that will make an immediate impact on our program."
Isola spent the 2025 season as an assistant coach at Montclair High School in Montclair, New Jersey, helping guide the Mounties to a 10-9-2 overall record and a 3-1-1 mark in the Super Essex Conference American Division.
Prior to returning to her alma mater, Isola served as a full-time assistant coach at William & Mary during the 2023 season. Isola coached the goalkeepers at Fordham during the 2022 season before spending two years as a graduate assistant at Ohio University. Working under Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year Aaron Rodgers, she helped develop a goalkeeper unit that contributed to 10 shutouts during the 2021 campaign. Ohio finished second in the MAC regular-season standings with a 7-1-3 conference record, while starting goalkeeper Sam Wexell earned All-MAC First Team honors after posting a 0.86 goals-against average and a .770 save percentage.
She earned a Master of Science in Recreation and Sport Sciences with a concentration in Coaching Education from Ohio University in 2022.
Isola holds several coaching certifications, including the U.S. Soccer Federation National F License, USSF 9v9 License, USSF Grassroots 11v11 License, United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 1 Certification, United Soccer Coaches 11v11 Pre-National Certification, United Soccer Coaches LGBT Diversity & Inclusion Certification, and US SafeSport Certification.
A former goalkeeper at Villanova, Isola helped the Wildcats post a 10-7-3 overall record and a 5-3-1 Big East mark during the 2019 season as the team advanced to the conference tournament semifinals. She earned her bachelor's degree in communications from Villanova in 2021.
Before beginning her collegiate career, Isola starred at Montclair High School, where she was a four-year starter, helped lead the Mounties to a Group IV state championship, earned team MVP honors as a sophomore, and served as team captain during her senior season. She also received the Matt Reissig Memorial Soccer Award, presented annually to the senior varsity player whose commitment and contributions best exemplify the values of the Montclair High School soccer program.
