The Pirates improved to 3-2 and denied Iona its bid to knock off a second BIG EAST foe this season. The Gaels opened the year with a 66-56 win at St. John's.
Toni Horvath paced Iona with 12 points, a season-high. Lauren DeFalco and Shezaray Rozzell had eight points each, while Anna McLean scored seven and grabbed nine rebounds.
Naeemah Ricketts provided a spark off the bench for the second straight game, totaling three points, five rebounds, and two assists in a career-high 19 minutes.
Heta Korpivaara led four Pirates in double figures with 18 points. Jadis Rhodin had 17, Nicole Emery scored 11, and Monique Blake added 10.
Iona tied the game for the last time with an 8-1 run, highlighted by three-pointers from Ricketts and Horvath, that evened the score at 12 with 13:37 remaining. Seton Hall ran off the next 11 points on their way to a 42-26 lead at halftime.
The first nine points out of the break went to the Pirates as Iona failed to cut into the lead. The Gaels trailed by as many as 27 in the second half.
Seton Hall was credited with 19 steals on the night while shooting 48.2% from the floor. Iona hit just 33.3% of their attempts.
The Gaels return to action on Nov. 26 at New Hampshire.
