Orchard Beach Lagoon, NY - Iona College women's rowing varsity lightweight four came home with a first place finish at the Spring Metropolitan Regatta, held on April 28.  The boat, comprised of Cara Rahon, Melissa Van Gelder, Abby Carrel-Thomas, and Vanessa Hansen coxed by Amanda O'Sullivan recorded a time of 8:22.2.  Sacred Heart was second in the race, clocking in at 8:45.1.

The varsity eight finished second, just three seconds behind Fordham.  They were followed by Army and Binghamton.

With no final conducted for the varsity four boat, the Gaels were content after posting the fastest time in the heats.

While conditions were sunny, calm, and pleasant throughout much of the day, heavy fog in the moring caused a one-hour delay.  A number of finals had to be canceled due to the arrival of low tide at the end of the day.
