Lachlan Wellington and junior
Matt Rankin represented the Gaels at the 2024 NCAA Championship at the Thomas Zimmer XC Course at the University of Wisconsin. Wellington earned an 89th place finish while Rankin finished 11th in the final event of the 2024 cross country campaign.
THE RUNDOWN
Competing in his third NCAA Cross Country championship event, Wellington earned his top finish and fastest time in the 10k event. He crossed the line in 29:50.9. Wellington finished 103rd last season (30:35.5) and 157th as a sophomore in 2022 (30:39.3).

Rankin, Iona's top finisher at last week's Northeast Regional Championship, competed in his second NCAA Cross Country event, posting a time of 29:58.7 at Wisconsin Saturday morning. He started but was unable to complete last year's race in Charlottesville.
THE OTHERS
No. 1 BYU took the team title and were joined on the podium by Iowa State, Arkansas, and Wisconsin. Harvard's Graham Blanks won the individual title, finished the event in 28:37.2.

UP NEXT
With the cross country campaign complete the Gaels turn their attention to the indoor track. The 2024-25 season commences in December.
